As Daylight Savings is finished today, yesterday we grabbed the last of the late Autumn hours to go to Sandfly Bay, on the East coast of the Otago Peninsula, with the hope of watching the Yellow Eye Penguins come ashore. We arrived about 4pm to find the beach positively packed with people, not a very common sight on most Dunedin beaches, but Sandfly Bay apparently draws a lot of tourists as it is so abundant with wildlife. It never ceases to amaze me that I live in a city so completely surrounded by ever present wildlife. Hookers Sealions littered the beach, New Zealand Fur Seals were all over the rocks at one end, and after a lot of waiting, and eventually giving up as the sun began to dip, we lucked upon a sighting of three Yellow Eyed penguins coming ashore. We are so lucky to be living in such a picturesque place.

Thanks Rachael – it was our first time, so we were quite taken aback by it’s beauty. It may become a bit of a favourite – and I can see why Dulux used it in their ads, the colours!
Absolutely Beautiful Photography Joanna ,
Thank you x
