familiarity

familiarity - Otago Harbour from above

familiarity - looking up towards the East Coast of the South Island

familiarity - Cabbage Trees + Pine

familiarity - Toitoi against a blue blue sky

It’s been a lazy hazy Sunday, with not a lot done – bits and bobs, mostly thinking towards our trip to Wellington on Wednesday. Later on in the day we did a trip up the hill to go for a walk in Orokonui. As we drove up the hill I looked down over the Harbour and rapidly swerved into a space to park – how often do we go past things every day  and start to take them for granted, stop seeing them for the amazing moments they are. We live in such a beautiful part of the world, a true blessing. When we lived in Australia we would crave these landscapes, the bluest blue of the skies, the intense green of the grass, and on visiting New Zealand the bits I would cling to and lose myself in were the country, the pure country, the space, open-ness, and richness of it. It is all so very familiar – home – but I hope I never stop seeing it for the pure beauty it is.
