Another fabric picture, this time for Bijou, who is apparently about to move into her sisters room, and I have lucked upon matching the colours in this picture with the new decor. This one also is loosely based on an idea from Scandanavian Stitches, a book I am really in love with at the moment. It reminds me a lot of images from the 1970’s when apples were featured a lot.
On a sadder note, the New Zealand author Margaret Mahy has died – she was a wonderful writer, producing a large volume of work in childrens and imaginative writing. Everyone has a favourite – I personally loved The Man Whose Mother Was a Pirate and A Lion in the Meadow. She will be missed. “But there wasn’t a real dragon,” said the mother. “It was just a story I made up.” “It turned out to be true after all,” said the little boy. “You should have looked in the matchbox first.” “That is how it is,” said the lion. “Some stories are true and some aren’t…” (excerpt from A Lion in The Meadow by Margaret Mahy)
