Feathered Cushions

We have some VIP guests arriving in a couple of days, and there is no more motivation for getting stuff done than when people are visiting. It really is quite amazing the things you see that weren’t there before, and how distracted your priorities can become. I made cushions. I decided that the lounge was drab, and set to making new cushions using a gorgeous Vintage orange floral matched with some re-loved gray wool. I have been wanting to try using feathers as stuffing for a while, so bought an old quilt at the Op Shop and duly cut it open to release it’s innards. One thing I wasn’t quite prepared for was the absolute beauty of the feathers inside, truly amazing colours and patterns, I have slept under feather quilts most of my life and never pondered what the insides actually looked like. Back to the cushions, I am really pleased with them, and they look great in their new spot – not to mention that Reuben now has a new joke whenever he sits down on one of them and says “quack”.
