Summer revisited

Only a few more days of the school holidays left now, and the weather has been completely glorious. Today was like summer, a beautiful, hot, and sunny day, wisely spent at Woodhaugh Gardens with a dear friend and her kids. Two and a half hours flew by on the picnic blanket as the kids ran, swung, kicked balls, and flew kites – a perfect way to spend a sunny day. This mild weather has caught me out somewhat when it comes to Reubens wardrobe however – I have done well with stocking him with long trousers and jeans only to find that he only has 4 pairs of shorts, and they are usually all in the wash when he needs them. We went to the fabric shop and tried to pick some fabrics suitable for an 11 year old boy – not much on offer really apart from plain colours and camouflage prints. We settled on a dark gray drill, and a deep red striped ticking. I added a few extra details to the back pockets to make them look a little less homemade – I fear it won’t be long now before he will no longer wear things I make as it is. I’m pleased to say he seems to like these ones though. If you are in New Zealand, I hope you have had a chance to enjoy this clement weather too.

About little minx

It's a rainy day and in an attempt to slow down and appreciate the little things I have started a blog
