School holidays are in full swing, starting with the very quiet bang that is Easter. I must admit to loving the fact that the shops are closed, and there is just nowhere to go with any kind of purpose or need in mind. I don’t understand why people argue that they should be able to open their shops, that this religious holiday should not apply to all, that there is some kind of need to be available to their customers at all times. I grew up in a time when the same argument was applied to Saturday morning openings, and I still think it’s sad that shops are now open every day, some up to midnight, how could we possibly need this? Is there not a time when we can simply say “we can’t, they’re closed”?
We spent our Easter doing very little, just being together, playing, reading, and eating lots and lots of chocolate. Perfect in every way.
