Time for a Harvest

Some months ago Ross & Barbara suggested that there was some room on their property to plant a decent sized crop of potatoes for the family, should anyone be interested. So, there was a potato planting day where ground was dug, after Ross’ massive effort in clearing Blackberry to prepare the spot, and several varieties of potato was planted. Today was time to harvest. Family gathered with forks in hand, and dug and dug. 12 (or so) kilo bags of seed potatoes became approximately 300kgs of beautiful, fresh vegetables. We have winter sorted! Barbara always has something special planned for the kids, and they were presented with their own vege-scrubbing brushes and a potato which they cleaned, wrapped in tinfoil, and placed in a chimera to cook for lunch. Even the one year old declared it “yum”. Such a wonderful day, lets hope this is a new family tradition.
