Old Faithful

Back to the reminiscing, and my first real drive when I started sewing again was to make bags that life actually fitted into. I looked around a lot at what people were using, looked on the internet at what people were making, searched bag tutorials (as this was new), and eventually designed my Tote Bag (which started out being named a Carpet Bag). This lovely tote has been a nice surprising success for me, and I continue to make it. However, my original pattern was looking very much worse for wear, and I have to be honest, was probably not as symmetrical as she could be.

So, time for a new pattern and a few upgrades – I have made the top part bigger, which I thought it needed for more balance, and made sure all the edges were properly straight. And for her first outing I even mixed up prints, something I find hard to dare to do. A bit silly really, but once I have a design sorted I can easily change part for a complimentary colour, but to mix and match prints I will tear my hair out. Will it, won’t it – some people seem to do this so naturally, and I am genuinely jealous. The end result, however much I had to tell myself “well, you can always un-pick and re-use the fabric”, I am pleased with. Here is “New Faithful”
