Fabrics & Cushions

I don’t feel that I’ve had a lot to blog about in the last week. Well, life is always hectic, but it seems at the moment that hectic is all that it is. There’s a lot of running from place to place and seemingly not much time to stop, enjoy, and create. So today, amidst the running around, I stopped at my new favourite op-shop, the same one I found my sewing machine in, and rifled through their fabrics.

It would seem that my latest fabric obsession, along with vintage curtains, is vintage sheets. Some of the 1970’s sheets have fantastic prints, and make great linings for bags. So, this is my latest pile, which will probably end up added to all of the other piles. I really need to do a big sew before I buy any more, I’m running out of room. When I see something I like, and it’s fill-a-basket for $2, there is just too much of the “I shouldn’t leave that behind” going on in my head. I did find a gorgeous old cushion for my sewing chair as part of my fill-a-basket which I was rather chuffed with – it even has feather stuffing. I saw it last time, put it back due to a small tear in the seam, got home and regretted it. It was still waiting for me today though, so clearly meant for me.

About little minx

It's a rainy day and in an attempt to slow down and appreciate the little things I have started a blog

I haven’t been to a consignment or thrift store in ages, I miss it. You found some great things! It sounds like the cushion was destined to be yours. It looks perfect on your chair!

There’s some gorgeous prints in there. I too have a 70’s sheet obsession. I make clothes from them. I look forward to watching what yours become.

I wouldn’t mind a thrifted apron or an apron made of thrifed fabrics. I love that kind of stuff! It’s so much fun!

Hmm, maybe I’ll reconsider.. okay, as it’s my first apron, if I screw it up completely I’ll switch and make you a thrifted one 🙂
